Reynolds Mountain to showcase the works of Jeffery Callaham, story-teller artist©

Reynolds Mountain is delighted to host Jeffery Callaham on August 8th at a Resident Appreciation Reception in downtown Asheville.  Jeffery will be showing his latest works in preparation for his upcoming opening at Studio B in Asheville, August 12th thru September 6th.

Callaham brings alive his memories of growing up in rural South Carolina by using vivid colors, real life events and the ability to bring his characters to life.  At an early age, Jeffery demonstrated an interest in and a talent for art. In childhood, this interest was nurtured by a doting grandmother’s unique storytelling ability and it was then that he began “doodling” with cartoon characters. In high school, Jeffery became interested in fashion illustration and attended The Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities at Furman University. In 1988, Jeffery won the Butler Derrick Congressional Artistic Discovery Art Competition and his work was displayed in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. After college, Jeffery began to focus on his southern cultural heritage by reflecting on stories, family traditions and scenes from his youth.

Reynolds Mountain is committed to supporting the Arts in Western North Carolina, and will continue to do so by seeking out opportunities to be involved!  Stay tuned to this blog for more information regarding upcoming new and exciting Arts happenings.
